Learning from Tao Te Ching - The Way of Tao
"All in the world know the beauty of the beautiful, and in doing
this they have (the idea of) what ugliness is; they all know the skill
of the skilful, and in doing this they have (the idea of) what the
want of skill is."- Tao Te Ching
DzieĆ Dobry wszystkim. Good morning everyone!
In this cloudy morning, I saw the skies were getting darker. The temperature was also getting colder due to the low-temperature of the air con. Right after I was checking my phone to see the clock and it' showed 7 am but my comfy bed didn't let me get up. Finally, I pull a striped-pink duvet over my whole body (again).
Once I started going back to sleep, some random thoughts came from my mind. I thought about the truth, ignorance, intelligence, honesty, and even malice. Suddenly I remember my friend who told me about the great philosopher from China whose name is Lao tzu. And I decided to reopen an ebook that he sent a couple months ago.
And Lets talk about Tao..
In the mid-twentieth century, a consensus emerged among scholars that the historicity of the person known as Lao tzu is doubtful and that the Tao Te Ching was a compilation of Taoist sayings by many hands. Lao tzu is traditionally regarded as the author of the Tao Te Ching (Daodejing), though the identity of its author(s) or compiler(s) has been debated throughout history.
Tao te ching is written in Classical Chinese, which can be difficult to understand completely. Classical chinese relies heavily on allussion to a corpus of standard literaly works to convey semantic meanings, nuance, and subtext. This corpus was memorized by highly educated people in Laozi's time, and the allussion were reinforced through common use in writing, but few people today have this type of deep acquintance with ancient Chinese literature. Thus, many levels of subtext are potentially lost on modern translators. Furthermore, many of the words that the Tao Te Ching uses are deliberately vague and ambigous.
As I browse anything regarding Taoism, I found a blog from Personal tao, He said that to learn about Tao, We should not think in terms of religion or philosophy. But we have to think in terms of what it is that you desire to become in life. Because to learn Taoism is to learn about ourself.
Religion and philosophy are structures people place on teachings, to limit and control thought.
Taoism doesn't care about any socially defined boundaries. Instead, Taoist practice dives into issues of the heart and teaches it all equally.
All I can learn from Tao is :
"Treat those who are good with goodness, and also treat those who are not good with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. Be honest to those who are honest, and be also honest to those who are not honest. Thus honesty is attained."
Regardless of how people treat you, you have the opportunity to give kindness and honesty.
No matter where you go, or who you interact with, there's an opportunity to uplift others.
Have a nice......experience
